For Patients

Insurance & Billing

OSS Health is an integrated, provider-based health system in which the orthopaedic and spine services fall under the OSS Orthopaedic Hospital essentially making them outpatient departments of the hospital.  "Provider-based" refers to a billing process for services provided in a hospital outpatient clinic or location in health systems where the hospital owns, operates and bills for all facility and physician charges.  Under the provider-based model, patients may receive two charges on their comined patient bill: one for the facility charge and one for the physician charge.  Previously, these charges were grouped together.  We recommend that patients check their benefits or call their insurance company for details.  Please click on the following link for more information on provider-based billing.  QA Provider Based brochure rev
